MACFitness is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We do not sell your personal information, serve you advertisements, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
MACFitness is operated by MAC FITNESS (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to MAC FITNESS (Pty) Ltd. When we refer to "you" or "your", we mean you as a user of the MACFitness app.

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
With other users (by your choice): workouts you mark as shareable, your profile, username, tier, and leaderboard position are visible to other users of the app. You control this through your privacy settings.

For legal reasons: we may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.
Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, primarily in the us-central1 region (United States). Firebase is certified under ISO 27001 and SOC 2/3, and complies with GDPR as a data processor.
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and workout history are permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data (such as leaderboard statistics) may be retained for analytical purposes.
You can request deletion of your account at any time from within the app under Profile → Settings → Delete Account.

All users:
EU/EEA users (GDPR): you additionally have the right to restrict processing, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing your data is contract performance (to provide the app service) and legitimate interests (to improve the app and prevent fraud).
California users (CCPA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
South African users (POPIA): you have the right to access, correct, and object to the processing of your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

MACFitness is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have collected data from a child, please contact us at info@macfitness.app.
We send push notifications for workout reminders, social activity (likes, comments, follows), leaderboard updates, bodyweight reminders, and monthly recaps. You can manage which notifications you receive under Profile → Settings → Notifications, or disable all notifications via your device settings.
The app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via push notification or email, and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
